Education of the Mentally Challenged-Ghana Project - africa action/D. e.V.
(EMC-Ghana Project)

We are a German based NGO supporting the special eductaional sector in Ghana/West Africa through a voluntary service and an intercultural exchange. 
Since so far mainly German people access this website it is in German except of this one site. The main site you find here.  

Our main activities are:
  • Voluntary service for people with experience in the field of special education or skills in working with special people. They are send to special schools in Ghana through the Ministry of Education in Ghana supported by the German Ministry BMZ (weltwärts program) in cooperation with the NGO 'Behinderung und Entwicklungs- zusammenarbeit e.V. (bezev)'
  • Supporting an interculrural exchange through the voluntary service and public relation
  • Support of advanced education to teachers in Ghana in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in Ghana
  • Part-funding of activities in special schools in Ghana e.g. the annual cultural and music festival, batik workshops and for the establishment of a sustainable school farm
Current special projects:
  • Intercultural exchange by inviting teachers from Ghana to experinece the German culture and custom during the celebration of our 15th anniversary in October 2010  
  • Excursions to unique educational institutions in Germany for teachers from Ghana to meet German teachers and students providing a platform for knowledge/experince exchange and generating ideas for the development of the special educationl sector in Ghana
